‘Trump Gaza is finally here!’: US president promotes Gaza plan in AI video

Image

US President Donald Trump posted a video on his Truth Social account late on Tuesday, which appears to have been created with generative AI, promoting the transformation of Gaza into a Gulf state-like resort featuring a golden statue of himself, a hummus-eating Elon Musk, and shirtless American and Israeli leaders lounging on a beach.

“No more tunnels, no more fear,” a voice sings over a dance beat. “Trump Gaza is finally here!”

The American president has proposed expelling 2.1 million Palestinians from Gaza and transforming the enclave into a “Riviera” that would be owned by the United States.

The West Bank-based Palestinian Authority has called that proposal a “serious violation of international law.” The PA foreign minister, Varsen Aghabekian Shaheen, said earlier this month: “We have tried displacement before, and it will not happen again,” referring to the hundreds of thousands of Palestinians displaced during the Arab-Israeli war that led to the creation of Israel in 1948.

The video opens on barefoot Palestinian children walking through Gazan rubble. “What’s next?” a title card asks. They walk towards a skyline of skyscrapers lining Gaza’s coast.

“Donald’s coming to set you free,” a voice sings. “Trump Gaza shining bright. Golden future, a brand-new light. Feast and dance. The deed is done.”

The video, incongruously, features bearded and bikini-clad belly dancers, a child holding a golden ballon in the shape of Trump’s head, and Elon Musk dancing on a beach under a shower of US dollars.

It is unclear whether Trump intends to carry through on his expulsion plan. After receiving forceful pushback from Egyptian and Jordanian leaders, Trump told Fox News on Friday: “The way to do it is my plan. I think that’s the plan that really works. But I’m not forcing it. I’m just going to sit back and recommend it.”

A CNN poll conducted by telephone and online in mid-February found that the proposal for Gaza with no right of return for Palestinians was the least popular Trump action or proposal asked about. Only 13% of Americans in the poll called it a “good thing,” while 58% described it as a “bad thing.”

Arab leaders met in Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh on Friday for the first time to formulate a response to Trump’s plan for the US to take ownership of Gaza.

As the Truth Social video ends – “Trump Gaza, number one!” – the camera pushes in on Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sipping drinks on a beach.

CNN is asking the Palestinian Authority and Hamas for comment on the video – and asking the White House for clarification.

Trump Mocked for Bizarre ‘Trump Gaza’ Video With Bearded Belly Dancers: ‘Looks Pretty Woke to Me’ | Video

Donald Trump’s desire to illegally remove everyone in Gaza and turn the region into a resort town might be horrifying, he proved on Tuesday night that it’s also kind of ridiculous, by sharing an unhinged, apparently AI-generated clip absolutely riddled with mistakes.

In addition to depicting him as extremely obese, the clip also features the kinds of weird, clearly not intended errors that are the hallmark of so-called “artificial intelligence,” including a scene of two bearded bellydancers on a beach. And the latter part had Trump critics howling at how unintentionally “woke” Trump had become.

First, here’s that clip in full:

If you can’t (or wisely just don’t want to) watch, the incredibly unhinged 34-second clip starts with scenes purporting to be of Gaza as it looks today, a year and 4 months into the ongoing war. Green text reading “GAZA 2025” appears over images of streets covered in rubble, surrounded by damaged buildings.

Then red, white and blue text reading “What’s Next?” appears over footage of displaced Palestinians walking. This quickly jumps to scenes of silhouetted people walking through a ruined tunnel that opens into what appears to be a Dubai-style city. Cut to a man who looks like an AI-generated Elon Musk eating food on a beach, followed at the 14 second mark by the aforementioned belly dancers.

This is followed by scenes of people on wealthy streets, a child holding a golden Trump balloon, highly suspect renderings of beachfront resorts with yachts nearby. Then we see a very poorly rendered Trump — presented unflatteringly as very fat — dancing with a woman wearing a dress that exposes her buttocks. This is followed by what appears to be a poorly rendered Elon Musk, looking far thinner and fitter than he is in real life, throwing money around on a beach, and children eagerly trying to get said money.

This culminates is a shot of a building with “Trump Gaza” emblazoned on the entrance in large white letters. Then there’s a scene in a public square with a giant golden statue of Trump, another with Musk, and it ends with an unflatteringly fat Trump wearing a speedo, sitting on a pool chair.

Reactions were predictable. “Trump looks pretty woke to me,” Yashar Ali quipped.

We laughed:

One user suggested the clip might even have been intended to trick Trump.

There was of course inevitable comparisons to Mike Judge’s 2006 satire “Idiocracy.”

And yes, people noticed how the AI-generated clip made the IRL noticeably tubby Elon Musk look thin and fit while nevertheless accurately depicting Trump.

Some considered one obvious implication:

One user noted that the clip proves America still dominates at least one crucial modern industry.

And of course we’d be remiss if we didn’t also note that a very large number of people pointed out that the video is also a horrifying glorification of what, if carried out, would meet several definitions of ethnic cleansing. But for our own sanity we’ll keep our eyes for now on the mockery.
