Image

Whether you play the mainline games or the mobile apps, there’s plenty free stuff to claim during the annual Pokemon celebration.

There are tons of ways to celebrate Pokemon Day 2025. You can dig into the details of new games (like Pokemon Champions or Pokemon Legends: Z-A) or you can play one of the best Pokemon games from the last three decades.

More importantly, the anniversary of Pokemon Red and Blue means one thing: There are a lot of free goodies to be had for any Pokemon player. Whether you enjoy competitive battling or ripping open card packs, Pokemon Day is chock full of new promo codes and free offers.

We’ve collected all of the freebies you can get, from cosmetics for mainline games like Pokemon Scarlet and Violet to free currency for mobile games like Pokemon Masters and Pokemon TCG Pocket.

A promo code for a new Rotom Phone cosmetic upgrade has been added to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Pokemon Scarlet players will need to enter the promo code SBOOKCOVER for the Scarlet Rotom Phone Case and Pokemon Violet players will need to enter the promo code VBOOKCOVER for the Violet Rotom Phone Case.

Additional events will boost the spawn rate of red, blue, and green-colored Pokemon (and subsequently their shiny spawn rates) and introduce special Tera Raid battles against Meowscarada, Skeledirge and Quaquaval.

A new promo code has been released for Pokemon Go before the global launch of Go Tour Unova.

By entering the promo code GOTOURUNOVA on the Pokemon Go web redemption page, players will unlock the Pokemon Presents ’25 x GO Tour Timed Research, which will provide special Unovan Pokemon upon completion.

Pokemon Masters EX players can earn a decent chunk of premium currency if they log in to the game before March 27, 2025.

Any player who has completed chapter one of the main story will get 3,000 free gems by logging in now as a dual celebration of Pokemon Day and Pokemon Masters EX’s five-and-a-half-year anniversary.

Players who log into Pokemon Cafe ReMix right now will unlock a free Pikachu in its sweets outfit to join their staff. If they log in for three days, they’ll unlock a free Eevee in its sweets outfit to join their staff.

A new event to whip up a recipe for the Appletun Fruitilicious Jelly Soda is also launching on Feb. 28, 2025. Players who complete this event can choose between Appletun and Flapple to join their staff.

Pokemon TCG Pocket players will have three special Genetic Apex packs when they login to the app now. The Pikachu, Charizard and Mewtwo packs are all guaranteed to have at least one card of Ex rarity or higher. This means players can get three guaranteed Pokemon Ex cards, full arts or secret rares.

Additionally, a new event will begin on Feb. 28, 2025 that will allow players to earn more free in-game currencies, including Pack, Wonder Pick and Trade Hourglasses. These hourglasses will undoubtedly help players open more Triumphant Light booster packs upon the expansion’s release.

Pokémon Day reveals Legends Z-A starters, gameplay

Pokémon fans celebrate their most important holiday every year on Feb. 27 — Pokémon Day. Marking the popular franchise’s birth, Pokémon Day is often used by The Pokémon Company for announcements and reveals, which in recent years have all been packed into the Pokémon Presents online show.

Pokémon Day 2025 had no shortage of news, bringing tidings about the highly anticipated Pokémon Legends Z-A, the next iteration of the Pokémon Legends spin-off series. The game takes place in Lumiose, a city in the Kalos Region. Though no release date has been announced, The Pokémon Company revealed that the title will be coming out in “late 2025” and showed off the game’s three starter Pokémon: Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile.

Legends Z-A will feature a new combat style for Pokémon games, which continues the innovative streak of this spin-off series. Players can actively move their character and their Pokémon around, dodging incoming attacks. The catching system from Arceus and Scarlet & Violet is back, allowing players to easily net Pokémon in the open world, even without fighting them first — though weakening stronger Pokémon to enhance your odds of catching them is recommended. Z-A will also feature Mega Evolutions, as many fans had expected.

More of a surprise than the Z-A reveals was the announcement of Pokémon Champions, a multiplayer game for Switch, iOS, and Android. It will focus on Pokémon battles and can be connected to Pokémon HOME, allowing players to use the monsters they’ve stored there. Champions has no release window as of yet.

Here’s a full round-up of all Pokémon Day announcements:

Season 2 of Pokémon Concierge is set to arrive on Netflix in September 2025. Episodes 1 to 4 of Season 1 are available for free on the Pokémon YouTube channel until March 9, 2025.

A new Pokémon GO promo code (GOTOURUNOVA) is available for redemption as GO Tour: Unova is coming up.

Pokémon Masters EX is celebrating five and a half years of the game with a log-in bonus of 3,000 Gems.

Pokémon Café Remix is adding brand-new Pokémon as well as costumed versions of existing Pokémon.

Pokémon Sleep is getting a Cresselia vs. Darkrai event soon.

A new Pokémon UNITE gift code (POKEDAY) is available for redemption. Suicune, Alolan Raichu, and Alcremie are joining the game over the coming months. Original arena Remoat Stadium is returning with new visuals and mechanics.

A new Pokémon TCG Pocket Set called Triumphant Light will be released on Feb. 28. The Timed Booster Pack contains Arceus ex, among other new cards.

Pokémon TCG will receive Mega Evolutions in 2025, including Mega ex cards.

New Pokémon Scarlet & Violet codes (SB00KC0VER and VB00KC0VER) are available for redemption. Outbreak Events featuring red, green, and blue Pokémon with boosted Shiny odds are scheduled for the coming month alongside more Tera Raid Battles.

Pokémon Champions is in development for Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android. It will be a game focused on multiplayer Pokémon battles and can be connected with Pokémon HOME, giving users access to their entire pool of Pokémon from all HOME-connected games.

The Pokémon Company is adding Latin American Spanish to its supported languages for upcoming games and products.

Advanced Access for PGA Tour 2K25 is currently ongoing with the launch of its regular edition following on Friday, so the golf sim has been in the hands of critics and users alike for enough time to form some opinions — and 2K Games is likely very happy with the reviews so far.

With an average rating of 82/100, the PS5 version of the game is outscoring 2023’s EA Sports PGA Tour as well as its own predecessors, PGA Tour 2K21 and 2K23, which are all rated with 76/100 on review aggregating site Metacritic.

Critics praised both the game’s visual and mechanical improvements compared to PGA Tour 2K23, which they said make the gameplay feel much more fresh and enjoyable. They also lauded the introduction of the MyCareer and MyPlayer modes — staples from 2K’s NBA franchise — but criticized their connection to an influx of microtransactions and virtual currencies.

Players already experiencing the game via Advanced Access echo these sentiments. The title is currently sitting on “Very Positive” reviews on Steam with users praising the smooth controls and ability to customize the title’s difficulty.

On the negative side, players noted that menus feel clunky at times and a few bugs are still running rampant. PC players in particular are suffering from an issue that leads to their controllers being disconnected from the game while playing.

Users appear to be content with the progression system and its balance between upgrades that can be unlocked via gameplay and those that are locked behind purchases. Like the critics, many fans are concerned about the trend of microtransactions becoming a more present aspect of the series, though.

To illustrate that, the upcoming Clubhouse Pass for Season 1 of PGA Tour 2K25 comes with 34 free rewards as opposed to 100 premium rewards available in the paid version. The good news for golf fans who plan on ignoring all those systems and simply want to have a fun time on the green is that PGA Tour 2K25 appears to be the best iteration of the series yet for that.
