Amber alert issued for abducted 5-year-old after double homicide in Platte County

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Platte County Sheriff’s Office and the Riverside Missouri Police Department are investigating a double homicide and child abduction.

Officers said that the abduction happened just after 11:15 p.m. on Thursday.

The first homicide was in Riverside, near the intersection of Vivion Road and NW High Drive, at approximately 11:15 pm.

The suspect took that victim’s vehicle from the scene and drove to NW 50th Street in unincorporated Platte County.

He went to a home on NW 50th Street and shot two other people, according to officers. One person died and another person has a serious injury, according to the sheriff’s office.

The suspect then took a five-year-old girl from the home and fled the area. The Platte County Sheriff’s Office has issued an Amber Alert for this child abduction.

The girl’s name is Giuliana Manning. She is a 5-year-old black girl who is 3-foot-6 and has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a pink “Hello Kitty” shirt.

The person of interest in both homicides and the child abduction is George Clyde Manning, a forty-three-year-old black man; he is 5-foot-7, according to officers.

Officers said Manning is considered armed and dangerous and is believed to be involved in multiple shootings in the area.

Amber Alert issued for 5-year-old Giuliana Manning

Update (4:54 a.m.): The Platte County Sheriff’s Office provided an update to the current Amber Alert. The child abduction is now associated with two homicides in the county.

The Sheriff’s Office is working with the Riverside Missouri Police Department in the investigation.

Deputies say the first homicide happened near Vivion Rd. and NW High Drive in Riverside around 11:15 Thursday night. The suspect, 43-year-old George Manning took the victim’s vehicle from the scene and drove away.

Then, at a home on NW 50th St., the suspect shot two other people, killing one and seriously hurting the second. Manning then reportedly took a 5-year-old girl from the home. After clarification from the family, deputies confirm Giuliana Manning was taken.

Platte County Sherriff’s Office says George Manning is the person of interest in both homicides and the child abduction.

He should be considered armed and dangerous.

Update (4:45 a.m.): The Missouri State Highway Patrol now says the victim is 5-year-old Giuliana Manning. She was last seen wearing a pink Hello Kitty shirt and answers to the name ‘Kachis.’

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has issued an Amber Alert out of Platte County for 5-year-old Anayeli Manning.

She was taken by 43-year-old George Manning near Northwest 50th Street in Platte County.

Law enforcement says Manning shot two people and then took Anayeli. He is armed and has been involved in multiple shootings in the area.

He left on foot, but it’s not clear where they were headed.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A 5-year-old child is in danger. A 43-year-old man took her after shooting multiple people in Platte County early Friday morning, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Missouri Highway Patrol is now searching for the suspect, George Manning, and the girl, Giuliana Manning.

Giuliana is described as a 5-year-old with brown hair and brown eyes. She is 3′6″ and about 45 lbs. and was last seen wearing a pink Hello Kitty shirt.

The man who took her is George Manning, a black 43-year-old standing at 5′7″ and around 150 lbs. Police say he was wearing a white shirt at the time of the abduction. He is accused of shooting at least two people before taking Giuliana around 11:15 Thursday night, Feb. 27.

The Platte County Sheriff’s Office and the Riverside Missouri Police Department are both investigating.

The first homicide occurred in Riverside near the intersection of Vivion Road and NW High Drive. The suspect took that victim’s vehicle from the scene and proceeded to the 4400 block of NW 50th Street in unincorporated Platte County. While at a residence in the 4400 block of NW 50th Street, the suspect shot two others resulting in a second homicide, and serious injury to another. That’s where Manning took the little girl from the residence and ran.

Police say the pair were last seen on NW 50th Street near NW Ridgewood Drive just up the street from Park Hill South High School and the I-635 and 9 Highway interchange. Park Hill School District has confirmed there are no changes to the school day. Families should proceed as usual,
