NBA Makes Announcement After Klay Thompson’s Technical Foul in Warriors-Mavericks
The Golden State Warriors are essentially a brand-new team since their acquisition of Jimmy Butler before the NBA trade deadline, as they hold a 5-1 record with Butler averaging 20.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 5.5 assists in those six games. Now set to face teams in a row all below .500, the Warriors have a good chance to jump up to the sixth seed in the Western Conference.
Sunday afternoon, the Warriors walked away with a 126-102 win over the Dallas Mavericks on the day of Andre Iguodala’s jersey retirement at Chase Center. Making yet another return to San Francisco since ending his 11-year career with the Warriors, Mavericks guard Klay Thompson was involved in a controversial play leading to a technical foul. Upon review, a new decision has been made.
Called for a technical foul after arguing a no-call on a shot attempt against Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski, the league has issued a statement announcing the call has been rescinded.
“Klay Thompson’s (DAL) technical foul at 10:07 of the 2nd quarter on 2/23/25 (vs. GSW) has been rescinded upon league office review.
Given the outcome of the game, Thompson’s technical foul being rescinded only really affects his season total and avoids the fine as the technical was called early in the game and wouldn’t have changed the outcome of the result. Golden State is back in action on Tuesday when they host the Charlotte Hornets.

NBA Makes Kevin Durant Announcement Before Suns-Grizzlies Game
Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant is amid another strong campaign in his 17th NBA season. Averaging 26.9 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 44 games for Phoenix this season, Durant is also has the fourth-highest field goal percentage (53.2) of his future Hall of Fame career.
Despite Durant’s strong production, the Suns are amid another disappointing season. Falling to 27-30 after Sunday’s loss to the Toronto Raptors, Phoenix is the 11th seed in the Western Conference standings.
Durant had just 15 points in the loss to Toronto, his second-lowest scoring output of the season (13 points against the San Antonio Spurs on Dec. 3).
Things do not get any easier for Phoenix after Sunday’s loss, as they will stay on the road to face the second seed Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday. Ahead of that contest, the NBA made an announcement on Durant.
Picking up a technical foul in the loss on Sunday, Durant has since had it rescinded by the league.
“Kevin Durant’s (PHX) technical foul at 1:25 of the 2nd quarter on 2/23/25 (vs. TOR) has been rescinded upon league office review,” the NBA announced on Monday.
If nothing else, this announcement from the NBA saves Durant some money while also keeping him one technical foul further from an automatic suspension (16 in one season).
Durant’s career-high for technical fouls in a season came in 2018-19 with the Golden State Warriors when he accumulated 16 ( via FOX Sports). The 36-year-old forward has just three this season with 25 games remaining.

Luka Doncic had a huge start against his old team Tuesday night. But it was the Los Angeles Lakers’ other superstar who had the big finish. LeBron James put up 16 points, five rebounds and an assist in the fourth quarter of the Lakers’ 107-99 win over the Dallas Mavericks. With the Mavericks making a desperate rally late in the final minute, James iced the game by stealing P.J. Washington’s tip on a jump ball, then diving to the hoop for an easy layup off Doncic’s 12th assist. James finished with 27 points, 12 rebounds and three assists. He got some help from Doncic, who continually found his All-Star teammate for easy buckets. Doncic logged his first triple-double as a member of the Lakers, finishing with 19 points, 15 rebounds and 12 assists. He already had a double-double at halftime, clearly fired up to be playing against the team that unceremoniously dumped him last month. Not only did Doncic stuff the stat sheet early, but he stared down the Dallas bench — or possibly the Mavericks executives behind the bench — after his lone three-pointer. It was a big win for Doncic and for the Lakers, who moved into fourth place in the Western Conference, which would give them home-court advantage for the first round of the playoffs. And it was a big loss for the Mavericks, who fell into ninth place and face five difficult matchups in their next six games. Doncic sent Dallas a message Tuesday night. James sent a message to the rest of the NBA that the Lakers still have two superstars.
After hinting at retirement following their Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, superstar tight end Travis Kelce has decided to play one more season. The future Hall of Famer has made the Pro Bowl in each of the past 10 seasons and will go down in history as one of the greatest players at his position. Despite being a future Hall of Famer, the 2024 season was arguably the worst of Kelce’s career since he became a regular starter. Starting and appearing in 16 games, the 12-year veteran finished the season with 97 receptions for 823 yards and three touchdowns while helping the Chiefs reach the Super Bowl for the third consecutive season. While these numbers are impressive, his yardage and touchdowns were the lowest since his injury-plagued rookie campaign. Travis Kelce originally entered the league as a third-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. Selected by the Kansas City Chiefs, the Cincinnati product spent most of his rookie season battling injury, appearing in just one game without recording a single reception. Despite the slow start, Kelce broke out in Year 2. Serving as a reliable target for veteran Alex Smith, the tight end recorded 67 receptions for 862 yards and five touchdowns. Despite beating the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks — the two teams who competed in the Super Bowl — the Chiefs missed the playoffs. This breakout season led to one of the all-time great runs of tight end play in league history. Since 2014, Travis Kelce made the Pro Bowl in each of the next 10 seasons while earning first-team All-Pro honors four times and winning three Super Bowls. Since entering the league, Travis Kelce has recorded 1,004 receptions for 12,151 yards and 77 touchdowns. Off the field, the tight end has become a popular celebrity thanks to his relationship with musical icon Taylor Swift.
The Las Vegas Raiders may have just told us all some of their free-agency plans when it comes to one crucial position. We all know that the safety position is underrated and undervalued. They don’t make near the amount of money as cornerbacks do. And, sure, playing cornerback may be the second-hardest position in the league, but playing safety is no picnic, especially when you play safety in Patrick Graham’s defensive system, where he will sometimes have you in the box for five straight plays. Last year, the Raiders entered the 2024 season with a pretty good safety duo. Tre’Von Moehrig has progressively gotten better every year and is considered a top-10 safety in the league, while Marcus Epps is a great veteran who has an amazing IQ. But, none of that mattered because the Raiders would go through some of the more brutal injuries in the entire league. Against the Carolina Panthers at the beginning of the season, we saw Epps tear his ACL. He did not finish the season in what was a contract year for him last year. Instead, Isaiah Pola-Mao started 14 games. The former USC Trojans safety showed a lot of promise. So much so, that the Raiders decided to reward him. Raiders sign safety Isaiah Pola-Mao to extension According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the Raiders signed Pola-Mao to an extension. He’s now on for two more years on a deal worth up to $8.45 million and $4 million APY. The Raiders confirmed news of the extension: This kind of shows that they want to rock with Pola-Mao in the future as the starter, and that they likely won’t bring Epps back next year. And, it makes sense, as he’s coming off an ACL injury, and Pola-Mao is younger and showed a ton of potential last season. Pola-Mao is the perfect Pete Carroll prototype safety, too. He’s very similar to what Carroll liked back when he was the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks. So, now they just have to figure out what they are going to do with Moehrig, who is also due a new deal this offseason. Moehrig is going to make a lot of money.
The Boston Bruins are on the outside looking in at a playoff spot, and now, they’ve scratched a talented young forward, with trade speculation heating up. This season hasn’t been a very good one for the Boston Bruins, and with the team on the verge of potentially missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs, there’s been plenty of speculation that a fire sale could be on the horizon. That includes players like Trent Frederic, Nikita Zadorov and even captain Brad Marchand, but now, another player has been identified as potentially being on the move. According to a report from Michael Sullivan, the Bruins are making 27-year old Justin Brazeau a healthy scratch on Tuesday, leading to plenty of speculation that he may be on the move in the near future. The undrafted winger made his NHL debut with the Bruins a season ago, and with his first lengthy stint in the league this season, he’s posted 10 goals and 20 points in 54 games played, showing that he’s got potential as a middle-six forward at the NHL level. The trade deadline is now less than 10 days away, with teams around the league finally using all their intel to push their chips onto the table for a Stanley Cup run, and while Brazeau may not be a big deal, a team acquiring him for relatively cheap could be a major boost to a lineup. Ultimately, there’s a chance that this isn’t injury related, as the team may simply be looking to get a different feel for their lineup as they look to get back into a Stanley Cup Playoffs spot, but given all of the speculation around the Bruins, it’s safe to say that nobody except for David Pastrnak will be off the table in trade talks.
