The Seattle Seahawks have reached agreement with versatile offensive lineman Josh Jones on a one-year contract worth up to $4.75 million, according to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on Monday night.

Jones, 27, has made 24 starts over a five-year NFL career spanning three teams. The 6-foot-5, 339-pound lineman spent this past season as a backup tackle for the Baltimore Ravens, logging 46 offensive snaps.

Jones is far from a big-name free agent splash, but he could give Seattle valuable depth up front with his experience playing both tackle and guard. He has 782 career snaps at left tackle, 612 snaps at right guard, 263 snaps at right tackle and 63 snaps at left guard, according to Pro Football Focus.

Jones was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals as a 2020 third-round pick. The University of Houston product started 12 games for the Cardinals in 2021 and nine in 2022. He then was traded to the Houston Texans and started three games for them in 2023. He signed a one-year deal with Baltimore in 2024.

Jones received a career-best 75.8 PFF grade in 2022, but has sub-50 grades for each of his other four seasons.

NFL Free Agency 2025: Seahawks add free agent o-lineman per report

FILED UNDER:

It’s probably not one of the names Seattle fans had at the top of their list, but the Seahawks have agreed to terms with a free agent offensive lineman.

Since the moment the final whistle was blown on the 2024 season for the Seattle Seahawks, the big question for fans and observers has been how the Seahawks would address the issues on the offensive line.

The line was, quite simply, very bad for most of the 2024 campaign, with Geno Smith constantly under pressure and a lack consistent running lanes for Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet, leading to a less than potent ground game.

However, with the legal tampering period opening Monday and teams allowed to negotiate contracts with free agents, the Seahawks are reported to have agreed to terms with a veteran free agent offensive lineman according to Ian Rapoport.

If the name Josh Jones sounds familiar, it’s probably because Seattle fans remember the other Josh Jones, a safety who was with the team during the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

However, this is a different Josh Jones, one who entered the NFL as a third round pick of the Arizona Cardinals in 2020, but was traded to the Houston Texans in a pick swap ahead of the 2023 season, where he spent the year with former Seahawks offensive lineman George Fant. Jones signed with Baltimore in free agency ahead of the 2024 season, and played 46 snaps for the Ravens this past season while providing depth at multiple spots across the line.
