The Phoenix Suns (28-33) host the Los Angeles Clippers (32-28) on Tuesday, airing on TNT at 8 p.m.
This is the Suns’ final of their four-game homestand. It’s also the third of a four-game Pacific Division series against the Clippers. The Suns won their last matchup in Phoenix, 111-109, on Jan. 27.
The Western Conference’s 11th-place Suns are coming off a 116-98 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday, and have dropped five of their last seven since the All-Star break. The No. 7 Clippers have had similar struggles since the break, losing five of their last six since, including their last two against their crosstown rival L.A. Lakers.
The Suns are led by Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal (left calf injury injury management), who’s been upgraded from questionable to available. The Clippers’ top players are James Harden and Kawhi Leonard.

Phoenix fell behind on a 65-49 deficit at the break.
Durant (eight points, 2-of-8 FG, four rebounds, three assists) didn’t hit his second field goal, a triple, until 14 seconds left in the half. Bradley Beal is scoreless at 0-for-4. Devin Booker put up six points (2-of-5) and three assists, and the Suns’ starting big Nick Richards had the team-high 10 points with four rebounds.
The Clippers top scorers are their rim protector Ivica Zubac (15 points), Bogdan Bogdanovic (13) and Kawhi Leonard (11).
After the Suns shot a stellar 57.8% in the the first quarter, they regressed to 31.8% in the second. The Suns’ prevalent turnover issues have crept in as they committed eight and gave up 13 points off them through halftime.
The Clippers went on a 7-0 run for a 10-point lead at 4:34. After their big Zubac and Richards traded shots at the rim, James Harden (eight points, seven assists) led the Clippers on a bigger 14-6 run to close the half. They took their largest lead 17 on Harden’s triple at 35 seconds left.
Phoenix ended the first quarter on a 7-2 run capped off by a buzzer-beating trey by Royce O’Neale (six points) to take a 30-24 lead.
Mason Plumlee (six points) scored an alley-oop dunk, passed by Grayson Allen with five seconds left. Then Tyus Jones stole an inbounds pass by Jordan Miller and assisted O’Neale’s shot that brought the crowd to its feet.
The Clippers reached their largest lead of eight points after James Harden-assisted alley-oop to Ivica Zubac at the quarter’s midpoint. The Suns had a brief 4-2 lead, then got back in front at 23-20 from a 8-0 run through 1:31.
The Suns are starting Beal, Booker, Durant, Bol Bol at the four and Nick Richards at center.
The Clippers will open with Harden and Kris Dunn in the backcourt, sharpshooter Bogdan Bogdanovic at the three, Leonard and center Ivica Zubac.
Suns coach Mike Budenholzer said there’s no timetable on Cody Martin’s team debut. He’s been sidelined with a sports hernia for the past month since they acquired him from Charlotte in the Jusuf Nurkic trade. Jalen Bridges and TyTy Washington Jr. are out on G League assignments.
Norman Powell (hamstring), the Clippers’ leading scorer this season, is out. Their other players who’ll be out are Ben Simmons (knee), former Suns forward Derrick Jones Jr. (groin), Trentyn Flowers (G League), Patrick Baldwin Jr. (G League) and Seth Lundy (G League).
