School closings in Carolinas: Tracking closures, delays for Feb. 20, 2025
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – School districts in North and South Carolina were adjusting their schedules for Thursday due to wintry precipitation and its impacts.
A winter weather system was moving through the region on Wednesday, Feb. 19, with more wintry precipitation expected Thursday, Feb. 20. Some schools in the area were closing or shifting to remote learning due to the weather.
A winter system brought snow and rain to the Carolinas on Wednesday, Feb. 19. More snow was expected in the Charlotte region on Thursday morning, and dangerous road conditions were a possibility.
Temperatures were expected to get below freezing overnight Wednesday into Thursday. Icy roads were possible wherever moisture may be present.

School changes announced due to winter weather

(WSPA) – Closures, delays and virutal days are in effect for multiple school districts Thursday in the Upstate and western North Carolina due to the wintry weather.
The following have announced schedule changes:
Laurens County School District 56 said school is closed Thursday at Eastside Elementary due to the school not having heat or power.
Haywood County Schools will have a virtual day Thursday.
Henderson County Public Schools will operate on a Remote Learning Day today, February 20, 2025.
Jackson County Schools will have a two-hour delay on Thursday.
Macon County Schools will have a three-hour delay on Thursday. No buses will be able to drive on icy roads.
Madison County Schools will have an e-Learning day on Thursday.
Mitchell County Schools will have an e-Learning day on Thursday.
Transylvania County Schools will have a virtual day on Thursday.
