Miami QB Carson Beck’s Mercedes, Lamborghini both stolen overnight in South Florida
Miami QB Carson Beck had both his Mercedes and Lamborghini stolen overnight in South Florida, according to a report by talk show host Andy Slater. Police are currently looking for both of Beck’s personal vehicles after they were stolen along with an SUV belonging to Beck’s girlfriend, Hanna Cavinder, that has since been found.
The robbery comes shortly after Beck transferred to the University of Miami after starring at Georgia, where he had been the starting quarterback for the past two seasons. As part of his high profile transfer to the Hurricanes, he also got the opportunity to be closer to Cavinder, who is a star on Miami’s women’s basketball team. The two have been dating since the summer of 2024.
While it is currently unclear as to who stole Beck’s cars or what their motives are, the theft comes at a time where star athletes have been targeted in a series of robberies across the country. In December, the FBI issued a warning about organized crime groups targeting professional athletes after a series of home burglaries affecting stars in the NFL and NBA. On Tuesday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Middle District of Florida announced the unsealing of a criminal complaint charging a gang of seven Chilean nationals in connection with the robberies.

A Mercedes and Lamborghini owned by former Georgia and current Miami quarterback Carson Beck was reportedly stolen in South Florida, according to Andy Slate of Fox Sports 640.
Beck’s girlfriend and Miami women’s basketball team guard, Hanna Cavinder, had her SUV stolen as well. While police are still looking for the Lamborghini, Beck’s Mercedes and Cavinder’s car were reportedly recovered.
Beck played for Georgia from 2020-2024 and was a part of the Bulldogs’ back-to-back College Football Playoff national championship teams in 2021 and 2022. Shortly after he declared for the 2025 NFL Draft in December, Beck reversed course and entered the NCAA transfer portal before landing with the Hurricanes for his final collegiate season. He reportedly received “a little over $3 million” to transfer to Miami.
This auto theft comes at a time when high-profile athletes have been targeted by burglars. On Tuesday, federal authorities charged seven men who allegedly burglarized the homes of Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Joe Burrow, among other athletes. According to the complaint, the men, all Chilean nationals, are part of a South American Theft Group that targeted professional athletes, stealing more than $2 million of property.
Juan Soto has worn No. 22 since breaking into the big leagues with the Washington Nationals in 2018. So when he signed his $765 million deal with the New York Mets in the offseason, there remained one obstacle in his way to keep the number.
Enter Brett Baty.
Baty, a 25-year-old third baseman who has played parts of three seasons with the Mets, wore No. 22 since he was called up in 2022. After a January conversation with Soto, the team’s 2019 first-round pick decided to give up his number, but not without getting something in return.
On Thursday, Soto delivered a brand-new SUV for Baty and presented it to him outside the team’s Spring Training facility.

“I really appreciate the number,” Soto told Baty in the video. “It’s the first one I ever wore.”
Baty is changing to No. 7 this season, in honor of José Reyes and Joe Mauer, two players he admired growing up.
“I’m happy he’s the one,” Baty said recently about their conversation. “Out of anyone in the league, like, the best hitter in the league? I’d love for him to wear that number.”
This trade follows last year’s campaign by former Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Joe Kelly’s wife, Ashley, who offered Shohei Ohtani her husband’s No. 17 if he signed with the team. Once he did, Ohtani delivered a new Porsche.
Cavinder’s SUV and Beck’s Mercedes were recovered, but police are still looking for a Lamborghini owned by Beck
Baty will make $800,000 in 2025, compared to Soto’s $61.875 million salary
