In the world of late-night snacks and cheap eats, Taco Bell’s long-running Crunchwrap Supreme is a nostalgic favorite. The chain is commemorating that crunchy, cheesy legacy — and its upcoming anniversary — with a brand-new snack.
A new Steak and Queso Crunchwrap Slider just landed on Taco Bell menus today, bringing a punch of spicy goodness to locations nationwide. For under $5, you can receive two mini versions of the classic layered quesadilla-burrito. It coincides with the 20th anniversary of the original Crunchwrap that landed on Taco Bell menus back in 2005, as the chain tells Food & Wine.
“The newest Crunchwrap innovation captures everything you love about the Crunchwrap, now served as a perfectly snackable fun-sized pair with premium ingredients,” a brand representative tells Food & Wine, saying it’s bringing the “perfect bite of crunch, cheese, and flavor.”
This isn’t your typical late-night snack: Each “premium” mini Crunchwrap is filled with marinated pieces of grilled steak accompanied by a creamy chipotle sauce. (Pico de gallo, cheddar cheese, and a mini tostado round out this hexagonal burrito.) A container of Taco Bell’s newest dipping sauce, Green Chile Queso, also comes standard.

Feeling hungry? This offer is only available while supplies last, so we recommend indulging now rather than later. If you’re craving an entire meal (or hoping to split with a friend), Taco Bell is also offering a $9 Luxe Craving Box with an additional two tacos, a side, and a drink.
The newest Crunchwrap Slider isn’t the brand’s only foray into dippable snacks — in January, Taco Bell introduced the Cheesy Dipping Burrito, a similar saucy invention served with a side of chipotle sauce, nacho cheese, or sour cream. Another decadent treat, the Grilled Cheese Dipping Taco, previously took the spotlight in 2023. Of course, these new innovations don’t hold a candle to the longstanding, dedicated fanbase behind the Crunchwrap Slider’s namesake.
In fact, it might not surprise you that Taco Bell considers the Crunchwrap Supreme among its most successful menu launches of the time. This hexagonal quesadilla, a product of years of research from Taco Bell’s development team, first appeared on menus for a limited time in 2005. As the brand shares, it successfully joined the permanent lineup in January 2006, and the rest is history. Since then, we’ve munched our way through countless limited-edition remixes of the classic meal.
“Over the years, we’ve introduced innovations like the Breakfast and Vegan Crunchwraps, but the heart of the Crunchwrap remains the same: the perfect balance of crunch, cheese and flavor in every bite,” a brand representative explains.
When it comes down to it, though, nothing quite beats the classics.

Taco Bell Rolls Out New Crunchwrap Sliders for Their 20th Anniversary

TACO BELL
Twenty years of cheesy and crunchy innovation have led Taco Bell here: Steak and Queso Crunchwrap Sliders.
In honor of the 20th anniversary of Crunchwrap Supremes, the fast-casual Mexican chain is releasing a mini version of the beloved menu item on Thursday, Feb. 27.
The “snackable” selection takes steak, chipotle sauce, pico de gallo, cheddar cheese and a mini tostada, wraps it in a soft tortilla and pops it on the grill, per a press release. Plus, the limited-time option — which is sold in orders of two — comes with green chile queso on the side for an even cheesier bite.
TACO BELL
In 2005, Taco Bell tested the Crunchwrap Supreme and the menu item was so popular that it became a permanent fixture in 2006, according to the chain’s website. The classic Crunchwrap Supreme is bigger than the new iteration but uses the same technique of a grilled, soft tortilla outside. It is typically filled with beef, nacho cheese sauce, lettuce, tomatoes and a tostada shell. Other twists, like a Breakfast Crunchwrap or Big Cheez-It Crunchwrap Supreme, have popped up over the years.
Also on Feb. 27, Taco Bell is turning up the heat with some chicken-forward menu items.
The new Caliente Cantina Chicken menu are spicy twists to the beloved Cantina Chicken items introduced in 2024.
Now, popular chicken-charged crispy taco, soft taco, burrito, quesadilla and bowl all get a red-hot sauce — that gets its bright red color from red jalapeños — on the Caliente menu. The menu consists of five items: the Caliente Cantina Chicken Crispy Taco, Caliente Cantina Chicken Soft Taco, Caliente Cantina Chicken Burrito, Caliente Cantina Chicken Quesadilla and Caliente Cantina Chicken Bowl.
Each Caliente item is full of chicken slow-roasted with Mexican spices and a packet of Avocado Verde salsa on the side.

We know they say “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” but that just doesn’t apply to a fast food menu. Even though most fast food menus are perfect as-is, we will never say no to new items.
Thankfully, Taco Bell knows its fans are always craving something new, which is why it’s constantly testing new menu items in different parts of the country. And, if we’re lucky, we’ll see those items nationwide at a later date—which is exactly what happened with its new version of the Crunchwrap Supreme.
In 2024, Taco Bell tested the Crunchwrap Sliders with customers in Cleveland and Akron, Ohio for a limited time. The “fun-sized” sliders were snackable versions of the beloved Crunchwrap Supreme, and were tested in a few different varieties.
Now, Taco Bell is bringing one winner nationwide, the Steak & Queso Crunchwrap Sliders.
The new Steak & Queso Crunchwrap Sliders feature grilled steak, creamy chipotle sauce, pico de gallo, Cheddar cheese, and a mini tostada, all wrapped up in a flour tortilla, griddled, and served with warm Green Chile Queso sauce.

These new snacks are quite different from the Crunchwrap Sliders Taco Bell has served in the past. Mainly, they don’t cost $1 like they did in 2014. Instead, each order comes with two sliders and costs $4.99—similar to the recently released Cheesy Dipping Burritos.
Back then, Taco Bell offered Beefy Cheddar, Spicy Chicken, and BLT Crunchwrap Sliders—all made with Fritos chips instead of a tostada. The Beefy Cheddar was similar to the 2024 test, made with ground beef, nacho cheese sauce, Cheddar cheese, and Fritos. While the Spicy Chicken was made with shredded chicken, creamy chipotle sauce, and Fritos, and the BLT was made with bacon bits, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado ranch, and Fritos.
After testing at more than 30 restaurants in Ohio, the Steak & Queso Crunchwrap Sliders are now available at all Taco Bell locations nationwide for a limited time.
We tried the new Crunchwrap Sliders during the market test, and here is our honest review.
The first thing we discovered about the market test was that different restaurants were offering different versions of the Crunchwrap Sliders. So, the Taco Bell we visited was selling the Steak & Queso Crunchwrap Sliders or a customized vegetarian version with black beans. Today, the Steak & Queso Crunchwrap Sliders can be made with chicken, slow-roasted chicken, or potatoes instead.
COURTNEY KASSEL
Our Allrecipes editor Courtney Kassel tried both the steak and bean version and described the sliders as “pocket-sized delights” filled with all your favorite Crunchwrap fixings.
While the portable Crunchwrap Sliders are the perfect shrunken-down version of a menu fan-fave—and ideal for a quick snack or sharing with friends—Kassel laments that the OG Crunchwrap isn’t available in slider form.
“My go-to Crunchwrap Supreme is one with ground beef [so] my only wish is that the Crunchwrap Sliders were available with the option of ground beef rather than just steak,” said Kassel.
Hopefully, the steak-filled Crunchwrap Slider is only the beginning when it comes to snackable, shareable new menu items. After all, who wouldn’t want a side order of Crunchwrap Supremes to pair with their go-to tacos or a Mexican Pizza?
