Vince McMahon Had A Wild Pitch For The 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble Match
One of the most popular Premium Live Events in WWE is the Royal Rumble PLE. However, the 2022 Royal Rumble event has received a lot of criticism. It was mostly for the 30-Men Royal Rumble match, but it sounds like it could have been worse, if Vince McMahon got his way.
According to a new report from Fightful Select, there were a lot of issues in the Women’s Royal Rumble match as well. It is being reported that the former Chairman of WWE Vince McMahon had a wild idea for the match.
While speaking on Fightful Select’s Hump podcast, Sean Ross Sapp and Jimmy Van answered questions regarding the frustrations the wrestlers and management of WWE had with Vince McMahon. It was then shared that many of the women Superstars were frustrated with the idea McMahon had for that year’s Rumble match.
McMahon wanted Ronda Rousey, who ultimately won the 2022 match, to eliminate everyone else in the Rumble. It was noted that McMahon insisted on this early on because WWE had Rousey on a full-time “advanced” schedule for the year.
There was some frustration surrounding the match, as TJ Wilson (Tyson Kidd) reportedly walked away for a period of time. According to Fightful, one reason given was that McMahon’s vision was “so off-the-wall” that there was trouble coexisting with it, and WWE had Fit Finlay help produce the match.
Some were also frustrated with McMahon’s lack of plans for cameos, as many had no real plan and he wanted them to “get in and get out.” It was noted that Summer Rae, Sarah Logan, Cameron, Kelly Kelly, Melina, Molly Holly and Ivory all spent less than a minute in the match. At least four other planned cameos, including The IIconics and Nia Jax rejected the pitch, with one citing Wilson’s lack of involvement as a reason for turning it down. There were also Legends that refused to appear because of Wilson’s status.
While McMahon’s idea was not brought to a reality, it was Ronda Rousey who managed to win the match. Many within WWE pitched Mercedes Moné, formerly known as Sasha Banks to win the Rumble.

Fightful Select has a new report about one of Vince McMahon’s pitches for the 2022 WWE Royal Rumble, involving now former WWE Superstar Ronda Rousey.
The report notes there was said to be a significant point of frustration with Vince’s vision for the event, which was seen as unrealistic.
One of Vince’s initial ideas was for Ronda Rousey to eliminate the entire field in her return match, which then ended up being scaled back and changed with Rousey entering at the match at number 28, eliminating four women to win the women’s rumble match. It was also said that the most of the cameos were told to “get in and get out.” The women that were only in match for less than a minute were Summer Rae, Sarah Logan, Cameron, Kelly Kelly, Melina, Molly Holly and Ivory.
It was further noted that Rae and Logan were frustrated with the very small amount of time they had in the match, along with lack of planning for those that the cameos in the match. In addition, it was during this time, TJ Wilson (Tyson Kidd) took time away from the company as a producer due to disagreements with Vince’s direction for the match, which then led to Fit Finlay having step in and take over production duties for the match.
Fightful Select concluded by noting there were other planned cameos that included Peyton Royce, Billie Kay and Nia Jax. However, they declined to participate in the match, saying that Wilson’s absence from the company at that time as the reason they did not want to have any involvement in the match.
