Zach LaVine’s First Battle with the Bulls Will Now Be on National Television
The Chicago Bulls will add a nationally televised game to their upcoming schedule.
According to radio play-by-play announcer Chuck Swirsky, the NBA has decided to put the Bulls’ final battle with the Sacramento Kings this season on NBATV. The game is set for March 20 in California at 9:00 p.m. CT and will mark the first time Zach LaVine faces off against his former team.
The two-time All-Star has averaged 21.5 points and 5.0 assists in his six games since joining the Kings at this year’s deadline.
While it may not be the ESPN or TNT treatment, an appearance on NBATV is still no small feat for the Chicago Bulls. They came into the year with only five nationally televised games – three on NBATV and two on ESPN. Of those games, their matchup with the Hornets in January was flexed out of the ESPN spot for … well … obvious reasons.
Their last meeting with the Hornets on April 6 was the only remaining nationally televised game on the Bulls’ schedule. However, now fans from across the country will be able to get one more taste of this 22-win team against the Kings. I can hear the cheers now!
For what it’s worth, out of all the games left on this season’s schedule, I guess this one deserves a little extra special treatment. Not only will it be LaVine’s first time playing his old squad, but it will be only DeMar DeRozan’s second time since suiting up against his former team since leaving the organization this offseason. While both players seemingly left the franchise on good terms, I have to imagine there will still be plenty of motivation to remind the front office of the mistakes they’ve made.
Too bad Matas Buzelis will posterize on both of them and the Bulls will win by 20!
