THE LIST: School districts announce schedule changes over storm threat
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Some Lowcountry students will not go to school Wednesday because of the threat of severe weather.
Charleston County School District announced that schools will be closed on Wednesday due to incoming severe weather.
Berkeley County School District schools will be closed on Wednesday due to the severe weather threat.
Dorchester District 2 will follow eLearning procedures on Wednesday because of the incoming severe weather threat across the Lowcountry.
Dorchester District 4 will cancel classes for Wednesday because of the threat of severe weather as a cold front moves across the Lowcountry.
The Colleton County and Orangeburg County School District said earlier on Tuesday they are canceling classes for Wednesday.
All Colleton County afterschool and athletic activities will also be canceled Wednesday.
Athletic events and extracurricular activities scheduled for Wednesday for Orangeburg County schools are postponed, the district said in a news release.
“Forecasts indicate the potential for isolated tornadoes, sustained winds between 36 to 46 miles per hour, and wind gusts reaching up to 75 miles per hour,“ the Orangeburg County School District said in a release. ”The storm is expected to impact our area between 6:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.”
The Beaufort County School District also announced that it would not hold school or eLearning Wednesday because of the storms, nor any after school extracurriculars. “Please know BCSD doesn’t make these decisions lightly. We have many factors to consider, especially wind gusts over 40 mph that prohibit the safe travel of school buses,” the district said.

Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College will open at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Palmetto Christian Academy will be closed on Wednesday due to severe weather threats.
First Baptist School of Charleston will close on Wednesday due to the severe weather expected.
Learn4Life High School-Charleston will follow eLearning procedures on Wednesday. Live virtual class begins at 8 a.m.

Schools announce closures ahead of storm threat
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – As the CSRA prepares for the chance of severe weather on Wednesday, some schools have announced closures.
The Richmond County School System will hold a PowerUp Asynchronous Learning Day on Wednesday out of an abundance of caution.
All extracurricular activities are canceled.
The Aiken County Public School district says Wednesday will be an E-Learning day due to high winds exceeding safe bus travel conditions in the morning.
Employees will operate on a two-hour delay with no arrivals before 10 a.m.
After-school extracurricular practices, games and events will continue as scheduled.
Georgia leaders say even though there isn’t a burn effect in play right now, the Peach State is in the red for March, and leaders predict fire potential.
The Storm Prediction Center currently has the CSRA in a marginal to slight risk for severe weather on Wednesday.
Damaging winds with 40-60 mph gusts and isolated tornadoes are possible, mainly closer to the coast as a strong line of storms moves through early in the morning between 4 a.m. and 11 am.
Heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms are likely for the entire CSRA. Behind the storms, it will stay windy with gusts of 30-40 mph through Wednesday afternoon.

(WSPA) – Several Upstate school districts will switch to e-learning due to expected high winds Wednesday morning.
Spartanburg County School District 6, and Spartanburg School District Three, and the Cherokee County School District have all announced a virtual day due to gusty winds.
Spartanburg District 7 has canceled school and will not have an e-learning day, as the district has used all allotted e-learning days for the school year.
Spartanburg School District 5 said all schools in their district will be closed and students will not have an e-learning day.
Spartanburg School District 4 said schools will be closed and there will be no expectation of e-learning.
According to the districts, bus operations are suspended when wind gusts exceed 45 miles per hour.
A wind advisory issued by the National Weather Service said winds could gust up to 50 between 4 a.m. and 7 p.m.
