Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 launches July 11 on PS5 and PS4

Skate new and classic content in the next-gen remake, returning to the console where it all began.

The birdman returns in the next-gen remake of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, coming to PS5 and PS4 on July 11. The legendary skateboarding series first launched on the original PlayStation in 1999, and the shred’s not dead. It’s back and better than ever.

Skate the original content rebuilt from the ground up joined by new skaters, parks, tricks, music, and more, including enhanced creation tools and New Game+ to keep the grind going.

Here’s what’s coming down the halfpipe:

Skate through two challenge-filled tours in Career, chase high scores in Single Sessions and Speedruns, or take your time nailing tricks and exploring each park in Free Skate.

Bring your skate friends along, too. Cross-platform online multiplayer supports up to eight skaters at a time. Go head-to-head in competitive game modes or skate every surface together in multiplayer Free Skate. Whichever mode you play, the game’s smooth handling and simple-to-learn controls will have you grinding and landing tricks in no time.

Skate the original parks from THPS3 and THPS4 remade in 4K resolution and given streamlined goals in the two-minute format along with some new parks to expand your skating options. Tackle dozens of challenges to earn in-game cash and unlock new gear including new skate decks, grip tapes, wheels for your board, and extra apparel for your skater.

Shred harder than ever in New Game+, retaining your skater’s stat growth achieved in the first playthrough as you work toward true mastery over each of the parks.

In the new Waterpark map, skaters drop into the Mojave Desert in an abandoned theme park that’s seen better days, its slides rusted, graffiti on the walls, and a drained-out lazy river… creating the perfect skate obstacle for circling the park. Skip the line and head straight to the top of several huge water slides, testing your grind balance and vert abilities on the way down.

Hit up the park with new skaters joining the original lineup or create your own skater with in-depth customization options for hair, tattoos, makeup, and more. Pick your skater’s name, hometown, skating style, and get out there with your arsenal of new and classic tricks.

If you’re feeling rusty, the in-game tutorial led by Tony Hawk will get you started with lessons on the all-important ollie, kickflips, vert tricks, grinds, reverts, manuals, special tricks, and everything you need to become a high-score skater, all set to songs from the original soundtrack expanded with new music.

Preorder THPS 3 + 4 to skate in the Foundry Demo in June featuring two playable skaters, two parks, and a selection of songs from the soundtrack. Players who preorder the game also gain instant access to the in-game Wireframe Tony Shader at launch.

Purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition to join the Early Access period starting three days before the game’s official July 11 launch date. Plus, get access to some sick in-game extras:

The Collector’s Edition is for the most dedicated skaters including a limited-edition full-size Birdhouse skateboard deck with a reissued version of the Wings graphic and a printed Tony Hawk autograph. The Collector’s Edition includes a physical copy of the game with a voucher giving access to all the Digital Deluxe Edition benefits.

Preorders are now available for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, which launches on PS5 and PS4 on July 11. Stay tuned for more information to come.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 Remaster Revealed – Everything You Need To Know

Image

The legendary skateboarding franchise is back for another round of remasters with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, bringing the two classic entries to the modern era. It’s in the same vein as 2021’s remasters in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 with modern graphics and familiar gameplay, but this time it’s being done by developer Iron Galaxy (known for porting games and original releases such as Rumbleverse and Killer Instinct).

As far as content goes, it will feature all the skate parks from both games as well as a new one teased at the end of the THPS 3 + 4 reveal trailer – it’s a new level called Waterpark and looks to be a large, abandoned…well, waterpark! with a lot of verticality and rides, ramps, and railings making up the level. Skaters from the previous remaster will return in addition to another batch of newcomers including Rayssa Leal, Chloe Covell, Jamie Foy, Zion Wright, and Yuto Horigome.

While it’s confirmed that there will be new songs for the soundtrack, those have yet to be revealed. However, we know several songs you remember from the old games will return for the soundtrack, and while the full list hasn’t been revealed yet, here are the confirmed tracks:

There will be cross-platform online multiplayer for up to eight players, and a robust version of the Create-A-Park mode where players can make and share their own custom skateparks.

THPS 3 + 4 isn’t too far off – the remaster of THPS 3 + 4 is set to launch on July 11 this year for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Steam, Microsoft Store, and Battle.net). The game will be available on day one through Xbox Game Pass, and those who preorder the deluxe or collector’s edition can access the game early on July 8.

The standard version is $49.99, while the deluxe edition is $69.99 and comes with the Doom Slayer and Revenant skater skin, exclusive in-game decks and create-a-skater items as well as additional songs for the soundtrack (like the original Doom E1M1 theme song done by a full band). The collector’s edition is $129.99 and includes all the aforementioned bonuses, but also comes with an exclusive physical skate deck by Birdhouse.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 remake launches in July

Image

The new version will include new skaters and levels.

by Andrew Webster

After a whole lot of teasing, it’s now official: remakes of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4 are on the way. Activision officially announced the new release — called Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 — which will include remakes of both seminal skateboarding games and is launching on Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and the Switch on July 11th. It’ll also be available for subscribers of Game Pass Ultimate and Game Pass PC.

Just like the previous remakes, the new collection will include all of the content from the original games, alongside some modern additions, including brand-new parks and a handful of current skaters like Olympic stars Rayssa Leal and Yuto Horigome. They’ll join the original cast, including the likes of Bucky Lasek, Steve Caballero, Kareem Campbell, Elissa Steamer, Chad Muska, Rodney Mullen, and, obviously, Tony Hawk.

The new game is being developed by Iron Galaxy Studios, which worked with Vicarious Visions — now a part of Blizzard — on the previous remake. Here’s a little before-and-after image comparing the original games to the updated version:

Activision says that the soundtrack — always an important part of a Tony Hawk game — will include classic songs from Motörhead, Gang Starr, KRS-One, and others, “alongside new tracks that capture the spirit of modern skate culture.” The game will also support cross-platform online multiplayer for up to eight skaters.

The original remakes were well-received updates of some true classics, and the new game will be launching at a very interesting time for skateboarding games. In addition to clever indie releases like Skate City, OlliOlli World, and the upcoming Skate Story, EA is also bringing back its long-dormant Skate series.
