The Phoenix Suns (27-31) host the New Orleans Pelicans (15-43) on Thursday, airing on Arizona’s Family (Ch. 3 TV) at 7 p.m.
This is the first of back-to-back home games against the Pelicans and the start of a four-game homestand for Phoenix. Thursday’s game also is the second of a three-game season series against New Orleans. The Suns lost their first matchup at New Orleans, 126-124, on Dec. 5.
Led by Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal and Devin Booker, the Western Conference’s 11th-place Suns have dropped their last two games and six of their last seven. The No. 14 Pelicans, whose top players are Zion Williamson and CJ McCollum, have won their last two entering Thursday’s game, which begins a four-game road trip.

The Suns are ahead, 91-88 to close the third period.
Kevin Durant’s rhythm picked up as he hit 5-of-9 for 11 of his 22 points in the third.
New Orleans outscored Phoenix 8-2 through 9:39 for a five-point lead. The Suns struck back on an 8-2 run to get back in front at 8:13 and stayed ahead from there.
Devin Booker (game-high 17 points) scored eight in the second period, and Phoenix was barely in front 62-61 at the break. Kevin Durant and Tyus Jones have put up 11 and 12 each.
New Orleans’ top scorer in the second was Zion Williamson, who put up eight of his total 12 in the quarter.
It was a see-saw affair in the half’s closing minutes.
After the Pelicans began the second quarter up five, they jumped out to their largest advantage 18 from a 13-0 run after three made 3-pointers through 9:04. The Suns fought back and tied it on a 25-7 surge through 2:37.
Williamson muscled in an and-one layup but missed the free throw. Then Bol Bol’s dribble drive into the paint tied it again, and Booker’s third trey briefly put them up by three. Williamson made additional consecutive buckets and Durant’s ensuing mid-range pull-up moved the Suns back in front by one.
Devin Booker got off to a solid 4-of-6 shooting start for nine points, but Phoenix was down 35-30 to close the opening period.
New Orleans backup forward James Robinson-Earl tipped in Zion Williamson’s teardrop at the buzzer. Trey Murphy III leads all scorer with 14 points, largely from his 4-of-6 from 3.
The Suns and Pelicans shot well at nearly 60% through the three-minute mark and finished 50% and 53.8, respectively. It was a tight margin in which there were 11 lead changes, four ties, and the largest leads by Phoenix and New Orleans were three and five, respectively. The Suns and Pelicans have made seven and six makes from deep.
Tyus Jones is back in the Suns starting lineup running the point to replace Bradley Beal (calf). Booker joins Jones in the backcourt, Durant is at the three, Bol Bol’s the power forward and Nick Richards is in the middle.
The Pelicans are starting McCollum at the one, Trey Murphy III, Williamson at small forward, four-man Karlo Matkovic and center Yves Missi.
Bradley Beal has been ruled out due to left calf tightness. He was downgraded from questionable on the pregame injury report. He returned to the Suns’ starting lineup the past three games and averaged 26.3 points, including his season-high 30 in their 127-109 loss at Toronto on Sunday.
One of the Suns’ latest additions from the Jusuf Nurkic trade, Cody Martin (sports hernia), is out. Monte Morris (back spasms) and Jalen Bridges (two-way, G League) are out, too.
The Pelicans’ Kelly Olynyk (rest), Bruce Brown (return to play conditioning), Brandon Boston Jr. (left ankle sprain), Herb Jones (shoulder), Dejounte Murray (Achilles), Keion Brooks Jr., (two-way, G League) and Jalen Crutcher (two-way, G League) are all out.
