The actress also recalled getting her feelings “hurt” when she wasn’t invited to a game night with Quinta Brunson at Questlove’s home

Lisa Ann Walter’s competitive streak nearly got her kicked out of her friend and former Parent Trap costar Elaine Hendricks’ home!

While speaking to PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly on the 2025 SAG Awards red carpet, the Abbott Elementary star, 61, opened up about how she related to her character Melissa Schemmenti’s antics regarding games or other competitions.

“Personally, I’m extremely competitive,” she admitted. “I used to play with my best friend Elaine Hendricks, at her game night, and I got so bad that she told me I wouldn’t be invited back unless I cooled it.”

In another instance, Walter recalled how she once wasn’t invited to Questlove’s game night alongside Abbott Elementary creator, Quinta Brunson.

“My feelings were very hurt. So if you’re listening, Quinta, I need to be invited to the next one. You know I like to win. Come on!” she joked.

Calling her “my best friend in the world,” Walter tells PEOPLE about their friendship dynamic and how they try to support each other in the world of love.

Since starring in 1998’s The Parent Trap, Walter and Hendrix have become great friends — despite the former’s game-night competitiveness.

In August 2024, the actress called Hendrix her “best friend in the world” and opened up about their friendship dynamic and how they try to support each other in the world of love.

“She’s beautiful and she’s charming and she’s funny as all get out. I love her dearly. She’s also a great caretaker and she’s single. So I look at her, I’m like, ‘You’re a cautionary tale,'” Walter said of Hendrix with a laugh. “I look at you and go, ‘You’re single. How is there hope for me?’ So she’s more fear factor.”

She also revealed that she and Hendrix often look through each other’s dating apps and help each other pick their potential suitors.

“She does send me her choices if either one of us are ever brave enough to go online and on the apps and look at guys,” Walter said. “She’ll say, ‘What about this guy?’ And, ‘I think that could be fun.’ But then we kind of talk each other out of it. So we’re not great in that way.”

She added, “She is absolutely stunningly gorgeous, as we all know. She says it’s her vegan lifestyle. I’m like, your genetics played a part girl.”

Lisa Ann Walters reveals why Parent Trap co-star Elaine Hendrix almost kicked her out of her home

Lisa Ann Walter was nearly kicked out of Elaine Hendrix’s home after a games night.
The 61-year-old actress is “best friends” with her co-star from ‘The Parent Trap’ and the pair used to play games on an evening but she is “extremely competitive” and received a warning from Elaine after taking it too far.
She told People: “Personally, I’m extremely competitive. I used to play with my best friend Elaine Hendrix, at her game night, and I got so bad that she told me I wouldn’t be invited back unless I cooled it.”
Lisa Ann starred as housekeeper Chessy in Disney 1998 remake of the Hayley Mills classic whilst Elaine played scheming golddigger Meredith Blake opposite a young Lindsay Lohan, who starred as a set of long-lost twins on a mission to reunite their parents.
In more recent years, Lisa Ann has had something of a career resurgence with her role in ‘Abbott Elementary’ but admitted that she was “very hurt” when creator Quinta Brunson failed to invite her to a games night of her own.
She said: “My feelings were very hurt. So if you’re listening, Quinta, I need to be invited to the next one. You know I like to win. Come on!”
Meanwhile, Lisa Ann is mother to Spencer and Simon, both 24, with her former husband – whose name she has never revealed publicly – but recently admitted that she ended up “crawling back” to him for a period of time despite his infidelity because she ended up pregnant with her twins.
Speaking on ‘Sherri’, she explained: “I don’t have a [Valentine’s] this year. Remember the twins’ dad? So, when we first got back together…we broke up for a little bit because I knew he was cheating, so I went away. And then we got back together because my dad died and he snatched me back up again.
“On Valentine’s Day, we got together. And then, there was a stripper on his front lawn who he had also been dating at the same time.
“My shameful secret is that, I wound up, I didn’t realise that I had gotten pregnant that night – with twins. And I wound up staying away for five months and then he crawled back and begged for my forgiveness so we got back together.
“But I have not celebrated Valentine’s Day since. I didn’t know I was gonna tell the truth here today!”

Halle Berry has a response to anyone who says she “can’t keep a man.”

While appearing on the Feb. 24 episode of The Drew Barrymore Show to promote her menopause platform Respin, the actress, 58, spoke about her relationships and said, “I found my guy later in life,” referring to musician Van Hunt.

When host Barrymore, 50, asked Berry “how do people meet” these days, the Oscar winner said, “Drew, I used to have this problem too.” Added Barrymore, who has also been divorced three times, “I mean, it’s hard out here.”

“It’s hard in these streets,” Berry agreed. “I’ve heard people say, ‘Something must be wrong with Halle Berry, she can’t keep a man.’ Who’s to say I want to keep a man? I don’t want to keep the wrong man. Like, I’m not crazy, right? So when you find that you make a mistake — we all make mistakes. We have a right to say, ‘Oh God, this was a mistake. Let me start again.’ We have the right to do that.”

Berry, who says she “manifested” her current romance with Hunt, 54, said on the talk show that she has “always been a romantic and I always thought I would be a wife and have children.” The movie star admitted that “the career that I have is not what I ever saw for myself. I thought family and love would be first.”

How was it different with Hunt? Prior to him, “I always focused on what I didn’t want, and you know what I did? I manifested that, because the universe only hears the action, right? They don’t hear the ‘don’t’ part.”

“What I realized was when I manifested the last time, I only focused on what I wanted. The things I didn’t want I didn’t even think about,” she continued. “I was very specific about what I needed. I would just be positive around it, and believe it or not, one day I got introduced to him by a friend.”

Berry shares son Maceo-Robert, 11, with ex-husband Olivier Martinez and daughter Nahla, 16, with ex Gabriel Aubry. She’s also been married to former MLB player David Justice and singer-songwriter Eric Benét.

In September, Berry told Marie Claire she took a three-year break from dating after her 2015 breakup with Martinez, a “sabbatical to understand me,” as she called it.

“I had never been that intentional with my relationships. I was loosey-goosey with that,” she told the outlet. “You have to be clear with the universe [or] any old thing will find you.”

Image

Lisa Ann Walter revealed that competitive game night almost got her banned by her The Parent Trap co-star Elaine Hendrix. Read on to know the details.

Lisa Ann Walter shared an anecdote regarding how her competitiveness almost led to a game-night exclusion from her long-time pal and former The Parent Trap co-star Elaine Hendrix.

At the 2025 SAG Awards red carpet, as per People, Walter, 61, talked about how closely her personality mirrors her Abbott Elementary character Melissa Schemmenti, especially when it comes to competitiveness.

She said, “Personally, I’m extremely competitive. I used to play with my best friend Elaine Hendricks at her game night, and I got so bad that she told me I wouldn’t be invited back unless I cooled it.”

Walter confessed that she gets extremely competitive, remembering the time her seriousness at Hendrix’s game night earned her a warning that she would not be invited back unless she toned down.

Lisa also said that she felt left out when she wasn’t invited to a game night by musician Questlove, featuring Abbott Elementary creator Quinta Brunson. Playfully telling her disappointment, Walter expressed her hope that she would get an invitation to future gatherings, touting her affection for being a winner.

“My feelings were very hurt. So if you’re listening, Quinta, I need to be invited to the next one. You know I like to win. Come on!” she added.

Walter and Hendrix have been close friends ever since they were co-stars together in 1998’s The Parent Trap. Walter has already referred to Hendrix as one of her closest friends and someone she greatly appreciates in her life.

Aside from their interactions during game nights, the two also tend to encourage each other in their relationships. Walter said that they would often go over possible matches on dating websites and share feedback with one another. They find many reasons for not pursuing these relationships but are still a source of support for each other.

Lisa Ann Walter also complimented Elaine Hendrix’s striking looks, crediting her vegan diet as well as her genes.
