The crowd at Gill Coliseum was on its feet and cheering after Parsa Fallah hit what appeared to be the winning shot as time expired Wednesday night against San Francisco.

But while the crowd was erupting, the officials on the floor were waving the shot off. A quick replay review showed that the ball was still on Fallah’s fingertips as the backboard lit up, ending the game.

San Francisco held on by a whisker for the 74-72 men’s basketball win.

Oregon State took a 61-59 lead with less than five minutes to play when Liutauras Lelevicius converted a rare four-point play after being fouled outside the arc.

The teams would trade the lead seven times down the stretch with Oregon State getting a layup from Isaiah Sy for a one-point lead with 0:18 left.

But San Francisco had one more shot and it made good when Veniamin Abosi sank the winning 3-pointer.

Oregon State had a final chance with four seconds left. Fallah drove the baseline and saw a reverse layup slide off the rim. The ball was batted out to Fallah, but his quick jumper wasn’t released in time.

With the win, San Francisco clinched a top three seed for the West Coast Conference tournament.

Fallah led the Beavers with 24 points on 11 of 13 (84.6%) shooting.

Oregon State wraps up the regular season at league champion Saint Mary’s on Saturday night.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — The Portland State University (PSU) Vikings football team is set to make a return to Providence Park for the first time since October 2018.

The team will face the University of Montana on November 15.

Typically, the Vikings play their home games at Hillsboro Stadium, which is currently undergoing renovations for the Hillsboro Hops’ new stadium. The distance from campus and ongoing construction have prompted the move back to Providence Park.

Providence Park, known by various names over the years, served as PSU’s home field from 1967 to 2018.

It was previously called Multnomah Stadium, Civic Stadium, PGE Park, and Jeld-Wen Field. The team relocated to Hillsboro in 2018 when Providence Park expanded its focus on soccer, primarily due to scheduling conflicts with Major League Soccer seasons extending into the fall.

Organizers expressed enthusiasm about revitalizing downtown with the return of PSU football to Providence Park.

The full schedule for the 2025 season is still pending, but last year, PSU hosted teams such as UC Davis, Montana State, and the University of Idaho.

The Vikings previously faced the University of Montana Grizzlies in Missoula, where they lost 28-17. Fans told KATU they are eager to see how the team will perform on their home turf in November.
